The french artist , writer and poet Jean Cocteau (1889-1963)

loved the French Riviera and Villefranche very much.

He painted the small local Church,  leaving behind

the memory of a good and kind man,

 respected and cherished.

Walking Seagull

 

 

 

"La mouette" (The seagull)

is the name of a local association of people

lucky enough to own a "pointu"( name of local fishing boats)

Those people protect old ships

and fight to keep them in a world

of modern motorships.

 

 

Beginning of the end

Tomorrow ,in my part of France ,

the lockdown will be over .

Which means that I should be able to walk again along the beach,

to stroll again on the wharfs , to explore the shores again ..

Or not.

It will depend on how people will react.

Maybe , two days later ,

the lockdown will be back.

 

However, during those times we have passed through,

 I could count on the help of family and friends.

I'd like to thank them all today.

I'm surprised by the strange hats.

But I know they were all in the navy.

Diving

 

My grand-father was one of the first diving men in french navy.

It was between 1920 and 1925.

I have no pictures of him from that time ,

but when I wanted to write his story

  I searched and found those postcards in flea markets.

 

 

Seeing the diving suit makes me think that

 those guys were very courageous , or fool..
