A  "YOLE" is more or less a SKIFF .

This one is a copy of a boat from the XVIIIth century.

Beauty's back

First time I saw the Belem was in the early eighties.

So we have a long story together.

In those times, the boat was almost a ruin, ready to be destroyed.

But a famous french bank decided to save it, and now, look at it!

 

 

 

 

                            I visited the Belem in many harbours, saw its revival through the years.

 

Which explains  why I have this feeling,

of seeing an old friend.

If having a hug with a boat was possible,

I would have the Belem in my arms!

"La mouette" (The seagull)

is the name of a local association of people

lucky enough to own a "pointu"( name of local fishing boats)

Those people protect old ships

and fight to keep them in a world

of modern motorships.

 

 

Rich and poor

It's winter , in  Menton , French Riviera .

Two men with fur coats , and a third one with a camera ,

decide to sail for pleasure .

So they rent a boat , and a crew .
