BTW, Sun dogs are called that because of Greek legend that says the god Zeus walks his dogs across the sky, and the false suns at 22° on either side of the sun are the dogs. They only happen when it is cold enough for the humidity in the air to freeze usually around -18°C so I doubt the Greeks saw them very often.
